Vietnam–Norway Cooperation Opens New Opportunities for the Offshore Wind Industry
Date:2026-10-26
Vietnam is strengthening cooperation with Norway in offshore wind technology, investment, and supply chain development. According to reports, Vietnam’s revised Eighth Power Development Plan sets offshore wind capacity targets of 6,000 MW by 2030 and 17,000 MW by 2035.
Norway brings extensive experience in offshore wind development, subsea cables, offshore engineering, offshore substations, and installation services. Meanwhile, Vietnamese companies are gradually becoming more involved in the international offshore wind supply chain. For example, Petrovietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) has been involved in manufacturing offshore wind foundations and offshore substations. Cooperation between the two countries could also expand into marine surveying, port infrastructure, logistics, and professional training.
As Vietnam advances its offshore wind ambitions, international technology cooperation, local supply chain development, and specialized engineering services will play increasingly important roles. For companies involved in wind turbine equipment, offshore engineering, subsea cables, grid technology, and operations and maintenance, Vietnam and the wider Southeast Asian market are worth watching.
AWE 2027 will bring together companies and industry partners across the wind energy value chain, creating opportunities for technical exchange, project collaboration, and regional market development.
