PetroEnergy Completes Full Acquisition of PetroWind’s 49.2 MW Wind Portfolio in the Philippines

Date:2026-08-19

Philippine energy company PetroEnergy Resources Corporation, part of the Yuchengco Group, has completed the acquisition of the remaining 40% stake in PetroWind Energy Inc. from Thailand-based BCPG Public Company Limited for PHP 1.9 billion (approximately USD 30.9 million).

Following the transaction, PetroEnergy now holds 100% ownership of PetroWind Energy Inc.

PetroWind operates the Nabas and Pandan wind farms in Aklan Province, with a combined installed capacity of 49.2 MW. The projects are among the Philippines’ operating wind assets and contribute to the country’s growing renewable energy portfolio.

The transaction represents another notable development in the Philippines’ wind energy sector, highlighting the increasing participation of domestic capital in the ownership and consolidation of existing renewable energy assets. It also reflects a broader trend across Southeast Asia, where the wind market is gradually moving beyond project development toward asset investment, portfolio consolidation, and long-term ownership.

The deal comes amid a period of continued activity in the ASEAN wind energy market. In Vietnam, the development of a dedicated legal framework for offshore wind is expected to provide greater clarity for future projects, while in Thailand, Goldwind has secured a turbine supply agreement for the 89.7 MW Dan Khun Thot Wind One (DKT1) project.

Together, these developments underline the continued growth and diversification of the regional wind energy sector, with project development, investment, and cross-border industry cooperation gaining momentum across key ASEAN markets.

AWE–ASEAN Wind Energy Expo 2027 will continue to follow major developments across the region and provide an industry platform connecting wind developers, investors, technology providers, EPC companies, and other stakeholders. Through market insights and business networking, AWE aims to support greater cooperation and investment opportunities across the ASEAN wind energy value chain.
