On January 30, 2026, Mingyang Smart Energy, Xuan Thien Group (Vietnam) and PowerChina International signed a strategic agreement to jointly develop a 6GW Sino–Vietnamese zero-carbon energy hub — marking a major milestone for Southeast Asia’s clean energy transition.
At the core of the project is a fully integrated Power-to-X value chain, converting offshore wind power into green hydrogen, and further into green ammonia and green methanol. Once completed, this initiative is expected to become Southeast Asia’s first large-scale, end-to-end green hydrogen and e-fuel production ecosystem.
The project combines offshore wind, solar, energy storage and advanced electrolyser technologies to ensure stable, 24/7 hydrogen output. Leveraging Vietnam’s Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) framework, the hub will support industrial decarbonization while enabling the export of green fuels to regional and global markets.
More importantly, this collaboration reflects a broader shift across ASEAN — from standalone renewable projects toward integrated, cross-border clean energy systems that link renewable power, hydrogen and zero-carbon industrial parks.
As offshore wind, Power-to-X and green hydrogen projects gain momentum across Southeast Asia, industry collaboration and knowledge exchange are becoming increasingly critical.
