Southeast Asia Onshore Wind Set for Nearly 300% Growth by 2030 — Rystad Energy Outlook

Date:2025-12-29

According to Rystad Energy, Southeast Asia’s onshore wind capacity is projected to grow from 6.5 GW in 2024 to approximately 26 GW by 2030, representing nearly a 300% increase. This surge is driven by stronger policy support, project auctions, favorable tariffs, and advances in turbine technology.

Leading countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines are driving most of this expansion, while emerging markets like Laos are beginning to develop major wind projects. Despite challenges like grid integration and regulatory consistency, the outlook highlights wind energy as a critical component of Southeast Asia’s energy transition.
