Historic Cross-Border Wind Power in Southeast Asia: Laos to Export Wind Energy to Vietnam
Date:2025-12-22
The Southeast Asian wind energy sector has reached a major milestone: Laos is set to export wind power to Vietnam through several large-scale projects. The Monsoon Wind Farm (600 MW) has recently gone into commercial operation, delivering clean electricity to Vietnam’s national grid. This landmark cross-border initiative strengthens regional energy connectivity and highlights ASEAN countries’ commitment to accelerating wind energy development.
Additional projects in Savannakhet and Nong are underway, with combined capacity expected to reach 1,200 MW in the coming years. This cooperation demonstrates not only Laos’ growing role as a clean energy exporter but also the immense potential of the Southeast Asian market for wind energy investment and infrastructure development.
